Munda Wanga is a growing concern that is wholly owned and run by the Street Family. The name Munda Wanga has its origins in Zambia and means ‘my garden’.

Our nursery is nestled in the scenic Wemmershoek Valley in the heart of the Winelands. Our property borders on the exclusive Boschenmeer Golf Estate on the outskirts of Paarl.

From small beginnings in 1984, Munda Wanga has established itself as a leading supplier of bedding plants in South Africa. We have a reputation for producing plants of excellent quality which we supply in 12 packs, 6 packs, pots and hanging baskets. We carry an extensive range of plants including flowering annuals and perennials, groundcovers, herbs and indigenous plants.

We grow our plants in tough, robust, outdoor conditions and not in greenhouses. The same conditions you have to contend with in your garden so our plants won’t be shocked by their arrival in your beds.

Like our name, Munda Wanga, the Streets originate from Zambia and have a long association with the land. Alan’s father, Philip farmed in Zambia for many years and his brother, Colin still farms on his estate Terranova.

Alan our Patriarch has recently retired and handed over the managing director responsibilities to his eldest son, Michael. Michael also fulfils the function of grower. Lynn, Alan’s better half takes more time off now but enjoys being part of Munda Wanga’s daily operations too much to stop working completely. Michael’s wife Mignon acts as our contact with our customers and the public and fills in for Lynn whenever necessary. Craig and Cathy are responsible for the planning, seed sowing and transplanting. Craig is also responsible for the human resources function of the company. All family members are directors of the company. The grandchildren Kent, Emily, Savannah and Megan are directors in training.

What we lack in expertise, we more than make up for with commitment and passion.

Munda Wanga’s plants are supplied to retail nurseries in the Western, Southern and Eastern Cape.

Although Munda Wanga is strictly wholesale we welcome interest from the public and will gladly supply information on any of our products.
